ABOUT US
Empire Racing Cars is the racing car company led by Bill Chaplin.
Bill is an vastly experienced constructor of racing cars that have taken speed hill climbing records in many classes over the past decade.
Following this experience of a multitude of class wins and national championship honours, Empire Racing Cars is going to the next level of design and competition in speed hill climbing.
Bill’s previous company, Force Racing Cars, spawned 43 chassis, starting in 1999 with an aluminium honeycomb construction for a 600cc engine for Phil Cooke who remains a customer to this day.
As carbon fibre technology advanced, his designs have culminated in the brand new Empire Wraith chassis plus the ’00 EVO Series’ chassis for Eddie Hollier, but in the meantime, here is a quick snapshot of some past projects.
EARLY CARS GAVE EXPERIENCE
Empire’s early cars with Phil Cooke and Mark Budgett.
EMPIRE FORCE 600/1000
THREE EMPIRE 1100 CHASSIS
Three 1000cc Empire chassis were made with Simon Fidoe excelling in his, scoring British Championship points in the 2012 and 2013 season.
EMPIRE FORCE HAYABUSA
Currently the 600cc record holder at Prescott and Loton Park with Bill Chaplin and a stunning Wiscombe record with Lloyd Chaplin, the DS chassis was the ‘works’ car for many years being the first to break into the 28 second barrier for a 600cc at Shelsley Walsh. For 2013 was upgraded to a 1000cc engine that resulted in a 26.88 at Shelsley first time out.
DRAG BIKE WORK
Empire’s skill is not just confined to hill climbing.
A huge amount of work has been done to this Drag Bike that turned in figures of 7.54 secs, 194 mph.
Turbo installation, Plenum chamber and all fabrication was done by us.
SET-UP + PREP WORK
Empire also prepares cars for customers. Here is a car built by us in 2002 for Mark Budgett, but is now owned by Robert Capper.
We rebuilt the car ready for the 2014 season and has won classes in 2014 proving longevity in design.
