Having been to school in Worcester, motorsport
and competition was always ahead of school work.
Indeed, having started as a mechanic at Benetton
F1 during the school holidays when only 16 years
old, this soon progressed to Prodrive rally car
work and then PR responsibilities for Canon Williams
F1 and Nissan Motorsports Europe in London as
a full time job.
Commentary at motor sport events started at 20
years of age, soon leading to the Goodwood Festival
of Speed in 1995 and then the 500cc World Championship
Grand Prix a year later at the beginning of the
1996 season. Whilst this MotoGP work has continued
and expanded, Toby has also been involved in commentating
and TV production of World Rally Championship
events for Eurosport and the Speed Channel in
the USA.
Hosting Pan European press launches for Honda
Europe, Marlboro Mitsubishi and executing voice
overs for Jordan F1, Honda Japan, Yamaha Europe
and Paris-Dakar computer games.
Toby is based in the county of Worcestershire
some 30 minutes away from Birmingham International
Airport.
