The Dakar Rally started in 1979 and to this day continues to be the world’s largest motor sport event. Toby has done seven Dakar Rallies in total; five in Africa and two in its current home, South America on which Toby worked as the international TV feed commentator and presenter for USA television.

DAKAR 2001 - 2005

ARGENTINA - CHILE, 2009 & 2010

Fresh from a hard frost in the UK, Toby arrived into the height of the Argentine summer heat to start the rally from Buenos Aires. The conditions of the arid, dusty Atacama desert cannot be equalled as it is the driest desert on the planet; it not having rained in 300 years.

Despite battling with alpacas, llamas and choking dust, Toby managed to protect his precious Apple Mac through all the hardships to deliver the script on a daily basis and commentate for Australian &
South African TV.

Presenting for VERSUS (USA) was another undertaking, topping and tailing the programme.

Fourteen days later and half a stone lighter, Toby was asked to host the celebratory press conference for the Rally winners, Volkswagen.
