Perfect score for Adam!
Report by Eddie Walder

AllanWarburtonThe Nicholson McLaren British Hill Climb Championship moved on from Jersey to Guernsey and better weather prevailed. The result was a perfect 22 point score for Adam Fleetwood with a new course record in round 21 and under his old record in round 22! The kind weather allowed your reporter to get to the event in plenty of time courtesy of Thomsonfly and Rockhopper airlines, after losing out on Thursday Qualifiying for round 20 saw Island specialist Andy Bougourd through in the sensationally fast Mallock Suzuki but unfortunately he ran last in the run-off. Islander Colin Le Maitre had repaired his car after Bouley but had a spin in qualifying and did not appear again.

Colin Le MaitreSlightly disappointing run-offs for Willem Toet and Martin Groves saw Mike Dean through for second to acclamation from the partisan Guernsey spectators. Ever reliable Roger Moran went third. Final runner Adam Fleetwood lowered his 29.44 course record of July 2003 to a sensational 29.25 for the extra point. We had hardly drawn breath when it was straight back to round 22 qualifying. This was usual suspects time once more with no Islanders making the cut.

Steve Owen SleepsDouble drivers Scott Moran and Roger Fleetwood were quickly turned around for the last ten to run. The unfortunate Simon Durling took a corner off his car after the finish causing a slight delay to proceedings. This with the ex David Grace chassis and those with good memories will remember Gracie always seemed to take a corner off at Val des Terres! Martin Groves made a big improvement on his round 21 performance for second with Mike Dean up there again on home turf for third and reliable roger Moran fourth. But it was Adam Fleetwood all the way for eleven points as he went under his new record for a 29.14! With a perfect 22 points from Le Val des Terres Adam now leads the Nicholson McLaren British Hill Climb Championship on 199 points from new second place man Roger Moran on 112.
