Adam Fleetwood Confirmed Champion As Another Record Falls!
Report by Eddie Walder

Adam Fleetwood was declared the new Nicholson McLaren British Hill Climb Champion retaining his title as he lowered another hill record into new territory at Craigantlet 7th August. With only 12 registered championship contenders on hand this would be a tough day where mistakes would be punished and so it turned out. By close of business Adam had won both rounds and lowered his 2003 record of 40.52 down to a superb 39.87 for a 21 point haul putting him out of reach at the top of the charts. A representative of Championship sponsors Nicholson McLaren flew out from Gatwick early Saturday to be on hand to congratulate Adam on his fantastic Championship win. Several others took advantage of the early flight to witness another piece of speed hillclimb history in the making.

Round 25
Local man Andy Kittle sharing the Willem Toet Pilbeam qualified for the run off but could only manage 12th place. Tony Wiltshire also featured in a further run off after his Wiscombe appearance to finish out of the points. Emerging William Mason again topped his father Tim! The pair were separated in the score chart by local competitors John Leinster and Robert Morgan in MP88 and MP82 Pilbeams. At the top end it was pretty much on the seasons pattern with Willem Toet second ahead of the Rogers Moran and Fleetwood with Mike Dean and Scott Moran following them home.

Round 25
Adam Fleetwood 40.97
Willem Toet 41.59
Roger Moran 41.88
Roger Fleetwood 42.42

John Leinster 43.45
Robert Morgan 43.98
Tim Mason 44.69

Andy Kittle 46.01

Round 26
There being only twelve registered contenders only ten ran in the run off as both Roger Fleetwood and William Mason spun in qualifying. Adam Fleetwood qualified on 40.03 for a new hill record cropping nearly half a second off his 2003 mark, but he was not about to stop there! Second and third places reversed from Round 25 with Roger Moran from Willem Toet with Mike Dean and Scott Moran in close attendance. In the final run of the day Adam Fleetwood continued that amazing form with yet another outright record with the first ever sub 40 second climb of Craigantlet!
